Venezuela’s Acting President Begins High-Level Visit to India
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Rodríguez landed in New Delhi and is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the visit is expected to “further deepen India–Venezuela ties and build on the momentum in the bilateral partnership.”
The discussions between the two sides are expected to cover the full scope of bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on energy security, trade expansion, investment opportunities and renewable energy cooperation.
According to reports, a Venezuelan delegation accompanying Rodríguez will also visit Indian industrial and technological facilities linked to the energy, pharmaceutical and automotive sectors. These visits are intended to provide insight into India’s industrial capabilities and explore areas for potential collaboration.
Officials said the broader goal of the trip is to expand economic engagement and strengthen cooperation in multiple fields, including technology, healthcare and infrastructure development.
India and Venezuela maintain traditionally friendly relations, with trade between the two countries estimated at around $679 million in the 2024–25 fiscal year. The visit is expected to build on recent diplomatic engagement and ongoing efforts to deepen economic ties between the two nations.
